- Set the Live View LCD Shooting Mode to Enable (On)
- Set the Mode Dial to Av (Aperture Priority Mode)
- Set the Aperture to f/5.6
- Set the ISO to 200
- Set the Metering Mode to Evaluative
- Set the AF Operation to Servo AF
- Set the AF Method to AF Face+Tracking
- Set the White Balance to Auto
TAKE THE SHOT
- For the best light, shoot during the late afternoon or early morning.
- For a warm glow, position the sun behind the subject.
- For more background blur, zoom in, then get closer to the subject.
- To take the shot, wait for the AF frame to appear around the subject's face or simply tap the subject's face on the screen, then half-press the shutter button to continuously focus and full press to shoot.
- To darken the image, gradually decrease the Exposure Compensation in small steps: -1/3, -2/3, etc.
- To brighten the image, gradually increase the Exposure Compensation in small steps: +1/3, +2/3, etc.
- For better results, follow the Quick & Easy Portraits (Shade/Cloudy) cheat card to soften harsh light and shadows on the subject.
